Sura, do you still like having screwdriver while reading?

Screwdriver when I soak myself in books.

Tuna and osake is always for night. I make no exceptions to this.

But I never have both at the same day and I never drink consecutive days. Once I drink, I make 2 days of non-drinking resting period.

What is this? Is this what they call.... a refined lifestyle? O_O
lol

Herbal soups also sound so cultured. >_< It's like saying "I have tea in the afternoons which I eat with yokan" or banchan or something. Meanwhile I'm snacking on whatever I can get my hands on.... although in actuality a lot of the snacks I get just sit gathering dust since I don't have a taste for them, like trail mix or tortilla chips.

@mbr: any herbal soup. My favorites are 雪耳莲子糖水 and 雪梨糖水. But we usually make a wide variety. I like the ones with meat bones in it because it adds an interesting flavor. There is this one herb that adds a meaty flavor to the soup, too!

Since my family is typically busy working in the daytime, and my grandma doesn't know how to make these herbal soups, it is usually not around evening do we begin making the soup. And since it takes so long, it typically doesn't finish until 11pm to midnight.

Easier to buy a "slow cooker", put some ingredients in and have the soup ready by the time you guys are home from work, etc.
Simple recipes are available online and many asian marts or shops might carry small herbs combination packets.

@mbr: We actually own three slow cookers. The idea was to use them to make soups! After my mom bought them, they've been left to collect dust on our shelves for the past four years....

I can't quite remember why she stopped using them, but I think my mom said that they were not "hot" enough. Or, the the heat wasn't strong enough.

My mom can make good soups with a slow cooker (I rather miss them) but I tried once or twice it was =.= fail. Does anyone have any ideas why a broth would fail to develop after leaving bones in a slow cooker for days?

I don't know.... never used a slow cooker.
Maybe because you leave them there for days?
How long do they need to cook? Usually, most stuff only slow cooks over-night...

I haven't eaten raw potatoes in a long time! Also I miss you Yuzu!
Pork neck bones, I think. I luuuv sucking on the marrow in bones (though with neck bones, it's more picking out little pieces of meat and dipping in soy sauce/vinegar than marrow).
