Webtoon on rise

Written by

The popularity of Webtoon in Korea is rising quickly. They were already popular before but now the level of popularity has gone up a level.

What do I mean by that?

Very recently, two of webtoons have turned into Korean drama.

Super Daddy 10” and “A girl who can see scent” have recently turned into Korean drama. For starters, Korean drama industry has rarely used comic as base of film productions. How rare? Off top of my head, I recall only one Korean manwha being turned into Korean drama (The manwha Full House) and it is probably about 30 years old by now.

So, it’s rare that manwha is being used as base of a Korean drama. Therefore, it’s interesting that two recent webtoons (which are essentially manwha) have turned into drama.

Korea's problem

Written by

I have a question to ask of you, especially if you’ve done education from USA or Europe.

Can you imagine going to school at 8AM and coming back home at 10PM? That is 14 hours of schooling per day. You literally go to school as soon as you wake up and come back home pretty much only to sleep.

And you have to do this for 3 years in Korea. You do this the day you enter your high school in Korea. Actually, you don’t get to do this for first few weeks when you enter a Korean high school, but that’s really a moot point.

There are, of course, exceptions. Elites are allowed to leave as soon as official classes are over. And delinquents will sneak out and the school won’t care much. However, the gist is that majority of Korean high schoolers will follow the system.

Super Mommy

Written by

#Note! Please read this ONLY after you’ve completely read Super Daddy 10.

Super Daddy 10 is a typical example of how wives influence their men.

In Korea, it is sometimes taught that women might not always get their preferred types of men but they have the powers to change their men to be the type of men they want them to be.

This webtoon sets such an example.

Pi Yeora had one year to live and she seemingly had a good man who wanted her but she chose Kim Yeol, a good-for-nothing bum at that time.

Of course, she did not blindly choose him. Her daughter’s biological father was him after all and I am sure that fact had a considerable weight in her decision to choose him.

Still, reviving a bum who had been jobless for 7 years, it wouldn’t have been an easy decision. Even so, she went for him anyway. She had hope and it worked out in the end for herself as well.

Souten no Celenaria

Souten no Celenaria – What a beautiful world is the first entry of <object> no <subject> - what a beautiful <something>

Liar soft has released four of these games. Souten (Blue sky) no (of) Celenaria is the first one. The latest one they released is Hikari (light) no (of) Valucia.

Blue sky of Celenaria is basically anime. It feels exactly like watching anime except that it requires clicks to proceed. Every character, however minor they may be, is voiced. BGM is limited but fits well.

Unlike Hikari no Valucia, the plot is straight forward and easy to understand. And, because the focus is on its main character (Koi), it’s easy to focus as well. Furthermore, the overall plot should feel familiar to anyone who has watched many anime.

I didn’t feel this game excelled in anything. It was, as far as I felt, an average game with an average plot. However, thanks to its “hentai” tag, the plot is able to express more than anime.

An era crossing giant

Written by

This article requires you to read all 8 episodes of [A river cross giant] !

As I was reading the last episode, I asked a question to myself.

‘What went wrong?’

Turning my eyes away from my monitor, I asked a similar question to myself again.

‘Where did it go all wrong?’

Few seconds later, I found myself having a bitter grin on my face because I realized nothing went wrong.

Hikari no Valusia

Hikari no Valusia ~What a Beautiful Hopes~ is an interesting hentai game. It is a “hentai” game because the maker calls it so, but it isn’t really a hentai game.

I’d personally say this is an adult visual novel instead of a hentai game. The game does contain materials that are too inappropriate for kids but such scenes make sense for the characters themselves.

Hentai games 101 Featured

Written by

Hentai games originate from Japan and we are dealing with what is a totally different beast. There are adult games in other countries, but hentai games are different in many ways.

"Hentai" means "perverted" and all of hentai games are meant for 18+.

The general preconception of hentai games is that it is kinky and it's low class. Some view it as a complete waste of time and efforts. That was what my preconception as well. My preconception changed when I was introduced to Fate Stay Night game back in 2005. It was recommended by a friend.

At that time, I was highly skeptical of playing the game simply because it was a hentai game. Regardless, I gave it a try.
